Mom

Here's the story of a beautiful young woman
Born in Virginia to the Johnson clan,
And how she traveled around the world
So she could be with her man.

The man she married was my father
And he was army through and through,
And I still remember those admiring glances
When she walked through with her crew.

But her eyes only for my father
She loved him with all her heart,
And her love shared with six others
For I was there from the start.

Oh yes, I was her first born
The one who hurt her the most,
So I should know when I say
The world should give her a toast.

But toast reminds me of breakfast
So before I fiinish this tale,
You should know her wonderful biscuits
Will melt in your mouth ask Gail.

For Gail is my sweet little sister
Who was the next of the rest,
Crying as I would steal her bottle
Putting my mother's love to the test.

And so over the next few years
As mom followed pop to the top,
The passion in their marriage evident
They added two boys to the crop.

Doug and Steve, my two brothers
Were the next two bundles of joy,
And my mother and father in heaven
For they sure loved those two boys.

And then the the surprise of their lives
For they were finally greeted in double,
And though she had three in diapers
Her laughter showed it was no trouble.

For Donna and Shelley, my twin sisters
Were the magic added to this brew,
And as my mother cared for them
We fell in love with these two.

So my definition of motherhood
Is wrapped up in my father's Nancy,
And the wonderful love she gave us
Was there for the world to see.

For she's the glue holding us together
With all the love within her heart,
And if they choose a "Mom of the Century"
She's the one who'd top the chart.

I love ya mom
